We are delighted with funding from  the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland through the Emigrant Support programme towards work with Irish people in the Irish Outreach Advice project.  This funding runs from 2011 to 2012.

The night also gives young people, who we work with, the chance to take to the stage and perform. Giving them the chance to feature in the line-up with leading names in the world of entertainment is a privilege for us. We’d love you to come and support them.

Ed is still keeping tight-lipped about his material, but commented: “I find it hard to believe that in a city like London, there are still so many young homeless people struggling to make something of their futures. This performance is a great chance to see some of Britain’s favourite comics share the stage with young talent.”

Each candidate had an opportunity to talk about their own policies and then our young people had the chance to quiz the candidates about the issues affecting them, such as: Housing, Transport, Policing and Unemployment.

We are delighted to have been chosen at the Civic Trust Awards in Edinburgh last week.

The centre received a commendation for making a significant contribution to the quality and appearance of the built environment and demonstrating a good standard of architecture and design, sustainability, inclusive design and provide a positive social, cultural, environmental and economic benefit to the local community.

On Thursday 1^st March, our Music worker, Ed, took a group of young people to BBC Broadcasting House. They were invited by DJ Tim Westwood, and were allowed to sit in on his 3-hour live radio show.

During breaks, our young people were able to interview Tim for our own ‘New Horizon/Roundhouse Radio Podcast, and were given a VIP tour of the building. Over the past few months, our young people have been working on putting together a series of radio ‘Podcasts’, improving their organisational and communication skills as well as boosting their confidence.

We are delighted to be working with the Amy Winehouse Foundation and the Media Trust who just completed a great film here at the centre.

The AWF is going to fund our music work and essential food provision over the coming year – a truly great legacy of Amy Winehouse.

The American Church in London kindly selected the centre as the beneficiary of The Thanksgiving Day Service for the American Community in London at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Members of staff and young people attended the service where The Reverend Dr Barry Gaeddert, Senior Pastor, The International Community Church, Surrey explained about the work of the centre and the needs of young homeless people especially coming up to Christmas.

The offering from the service will go towards young people’s Christmas at the centre, when every young person receives a gift of warm clothing and toiletries. The centre will be open every day throughout the period and good food and festivities will be shared with all young people.
