Women’s Group Event

November 15th, 2010

CIMG1374

We ran a ‘Womens Pampering Event’ on 27th October with support from Solace Womens Aid and Foundation 66.

Young women were treated to haircuts, nail painting and some even made their own waistcoats. We were joined by new and old young women from the centre and the group focused on having a safe place to relax and chat……resulting in some fantastic discussions around women’s safety and how to recognise negative or abusive relationships proving that ‘girl power’ is alive and well!

The women had a great day and we are hoping to run another day soon!’

Copper Load of This

April 23rd, 2010

A group of young people from New Horizon Youth Centre have taken to the local streets, armed with cameras and their imaginations to create thier interpretation of Copper Load of This as part of Create KX Reveal.
The result, a lively and poetic wall installation of images; where shadows meet reflections and graffiti sits amongst images of tattoos and clouds.
The project began in the brand New Barn space at New Horizon, using studio lighting and digital SLR cameras. The subsequent images were taken in and around Kings Cross, but also within some of the youth’s living spaces using disposable cameras.
